Lost & found
What do you do if you have lost your pet?
We suggest that you first call all the veterinary practices in the immediate area, since this is usually where they come first.
Other places to try include the local council who will be able to put you in touch with the dog warden (in the case of dogs). Occasionally the local police may have a report of a found pet. Failing that, you could try the local Dogs’ Trust, Cats Protection or RSPCA. See Local Contacts.
Remember that a dog must, by law, be identified by law with a tag with a contact number.
Microchipping
This is the best way to ensure that if your pet strays, gets lost or has an accident that it will be returned to you as quickly as possible and not end up in a cat or dog home, or worse still, being destroyed. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice. It is usually implanted under the skin between the shoulder blades by an injection. It only takes a few minutes.
A single payment covers the cost of the chip implant and lifetime registration on a national database. Lost pets are routinely scanned by vets, dog warden, RSPCA etc.
We can microchip cats, dogs and more exotic species such as parrots.
Please enquire at one of the branches for further details.
